Job Description:
Deputy Manager
Children's Residential Care, Newmarket
Deputy Manager roles can be awkward.
Sometimes you're basically doing half the Registered Manager job, but without the title, the pay, or the support to actually grow into it properly.
This one should be different.
I'm recruiting for Deputy Managers in Newmarket, supporting small specialist children's homes for young people with complex mental health needs and emotional risk.
So this is not just a help with the rota and cover shifts kind of Deputy role.
You'll need to understand the reality of children's residential care. The pressure on staff, the importance of consistency, the judgement calls, the incidents, the regulation, and the difference it makes when young people are surrounded by adults who are steady and properly led.
The role would suit someone who is already a Deputy, or a strong Senior / Team Leader who is ready to step into more responsibility.
You'll be supporting the Registered Manager, helping shape the team, keeping standards where they need to be, and playing a real part in making the home feel calm, safe and well run.
There's also a bigger picture here.
This could be a proper route towards a Registered Manager role in the future, with the backing and development of a larger organisation rather than being left to figure it out alone.
It won't be for everyone.
But if you're in children's residential care around Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge, Ely, Mildenhall or the surrounding area, and you're starting to think about your next step, it may be worth a conversation.
